I like the song, but I think you should try not to be like everyone else. A lot of people try to be like everyone else and you end up with a crowded genre.
o.o? I'm different from other people....Im a little confused =/
anyway, thx for the review I guess.
Not really melodic...
For me, Mario games have always been about detail and melody in terms of the music. Maybe you could try going in that direction?
For example, the techno drums were completely unnecessary. Try going for a less midi and less mindless sound, like say a piano.
thanks for the review and the critic =)
I'll try harder.
Sounds more like an RPG...
The dancy music is alright...
What you could've done is made it a little more fast-paced, the way you're trying to go. I'd also suggest a little bit less of a musical approach melody wise.
If you're going for a beat 'em up, try going for a less musical approach. I still like it, though. Don't listen to the tip I just gave you in a situation for a more music-oriented game, like an RPG or a platform game.
First off, I have never played Tomba, so I'll just review the quality of the actual music.
-Very exotic-sounding, don't hear it often.
-High quality midi.
-Beats are slightly off in some areas.
*Not my type of music.
* = doesn't really count against score
Sorry about not getting to play, though. I grew up on Nintendo.
There is absolutely nothing with midi in this song. Get your headphones on listen closely >_>...
I worked my ass off on this and you tell me it sounds midi-ish? >_>..
Great song, too repetitive.
The great thing about this song is it sounds commercially made.
The only problem with this song is it's too repetitive. If you could add some more variety instead of it sounding like "just another dance beat", that would grant a higher score from me.
It's still extremely well done.
This song is the most vanilla experience I have had in a while; it sounds like it was made with a loop program.
What saves the song is the production values, the bass, and the beat. You put it together really repetitively, but you did it so well, it's hard to care about repitition.
If you wanted to make it better, I suggest writing a melody, because right now, it sounds like a backround track where someone could add a melody.
It's a cool backround track, though.
I made the beat by myself, but the drums were from music maker :D!
I'll try to make a melody
thanks for the hint
Imagine Darth Vader dancing to this!
as stewy would say "luke! join the dark side! it's really, really cool!"
It sounds like you made this with a loop program. Very bland, generic song.
If you want to make a better song, make a melody or add some custom, non-consistant samples that you mix and match by chopping into pieces and re-arranging the pieces, instead of using the same sample for the main sound over and over.
Lol that was the point of the song! It was supposed to be repetitive! I stated that in my comments. :)
Though, when I start doing another genre of music, I'll take those tips into account. I appreciate the criticism.
The distorted instrument is too loud.
Apart from that, it sounds very bland. If your melody had more note changes and chords, then it would fix that issue.
The only thing that sounds good (at least right now) is the drums.
well i just started making dubsteps so it'll take me some time to get up to par.. only way i can get ahead is if someone teaches me some new stuff
But it's too repetitive. If you could add a little more flash to the song to make it stand out more, because of its length, then I would rate it higher. Add a melody instead of making it sound like samples on ACID or GarageBand.
It's still appealing because of the drums and heavy bass.
